Automobiles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
