19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
