The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
